BLIAUTO engineers analyze lighting ideas for cost reduction and added value and use Pro-Engineering (Pro-E) models for finite element analysis. This model is compared with equipment designs to verify its correctness.

Product development is structured in four main phases:

Phase 1: Styling, concept definition, specification, and/or regulation definition.
Phase 2: Conceptualization, designing and engineering, product development, prototyping, and testing.
Phase 3: Prototyping, first shot, trial, and check.
Phase 4: Production release.

Each phase is then followed by a gate and the management sign-off approval to ensure that all customer deliverables are met.

In the concept stage, BLIAUTO employs the use of rendering software such as “Flamingo” or “Maxwell” to determine the final appearance of the product. Visualizations can depict day or nighttime looks based on the product use. This capability has helped customers to set up the product and vehicle look much earlier in the process and has minimized “re-do” loops.

BLIAUTO also does a preliminary optical check at the concept level and provides reference light maps and product performance validation. BLIAUTO has its own 3D printer at the company to ensure that fit and function are checked. If needed, our Pro-E models can be exported to stereolithography (SLA) for the production of prototypes for customers. If additional prototypes are needed, then the first SLA can be made into cast-urethane models. If the customer wants, BLIAUTO can create prototypes from real materials such as plastic, aluminum, zinc, magnesium, or other materials within 4-5 weeks.

The pattern and intensity of the lighting design of Bliauto is influenced by the needs of the customers and legal necessities. In this case, BLIAUTO employs several optical-design tools like “ASAP,” “Lucid Shape,” and other in-house-developed software to design the required lighting pattern to fit the right application and the right market. Bliauto then employs the use of advanced evaluation software to perform evaluation and validation of optical designs.

It is common to have optical designs changed during the development with customers. BLIAUTO software enables the constant analysis of the light patterns on or off the road. The virtual reality room allows customers to visualize light distribution on or off the road with all the dynamic characteristics of driving.
